Job Description :
Position: Mental Health Consultant (KCPS Contract FRI) Salary: $40,000.00 - $53,000.00 annually (Starting salary depends on education, licensure, and years of experience) Job Type: Full Time Cornerstones of Care may provide supervision hours as required for licensure at no cost to the employee. We also offer annual CEU requirements through the company free of charge and an excellent benefits package. Additionally, flexible scheduling and work from home are available, and telehealth may be utilized in special circumstances. Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation to building administrators and teacher support teams on issues related to mental health utilizing Conscious Discipline as well as other methods.
  • Provide direct support to students and families at the preschool level experiencing social and emotional problems as indicated by assessed needs. These services are primarily in the school but could include in office, in home and virtual based on family need, especially during the summer months.
  • Provide training and coaching to KCPS personnel and parents regarding trauma informed interactions with students.
  • Communicate with parents regarding mental health concerns regarding their child.
  • Complete classroom observations regarding implementation of trauma informed practices.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed
  • Utilization of the Devereaux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) to determine social and emotional needs and supports for preschool students.
  • Develops treatment plan by establishing treatment goals with the client; determining treatment methodologies.
  • Monitors progress toward treatment goals by evaluating and adjusting services provided.
  • Identify and support students and families who would benefit from services over the summer to provide continuity of care these services could include
  • Facilitate treatment strategies, classroom support, play therapy and referrals of other services as appropriate.
  • Contributes to team effort by consulting with other professionals; accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Participate with the KCPS Head Start Mental Health regarding services being provided to children.

  • Demonstrates and practices leadership skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Education, Counseling or Psychology, or related arena with extensive experience of work with preschool age students.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or as a licensed professional counselor seeking professional licensure (e.g. LMSW, PLPC, LMFT)
