Pivot, a not-for-profit agency dedicated to improving the health of youth and families across the lifespan in our community through prevention, education, counseling, and advocacy, is seeking a full-time Prevention Educator for the Watertown City School District. This position involves presenting the evidence-based substance abuse prevention program, Second Step, to elementary grade students. Pivot offers:

Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in counseling, health, or related discipline with a Master's Degree, NYS Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) preferred. Skills: Applicants should possess excellent presentation skills, as well as displaying an active interest in preventing youth substance abuse. The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build relationships, and lead social/emotional sessions. JOB DESCRIPTION: Division/Department School-based / Prevention Job Title Prevention Educator Reports To Director of Student Assistance Services Type ☒ Full-time ☐ Part-time ☐ Intern ☐ Volunteer Compensation ☐ Exempt ☒ Non-exempt Hours: 70 hours/bi-weekly Salary: $23.22 per hour Education/Credential Requirements Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in counseling, health, or related discipline with a Master's Degree, NYS Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) preferred. Work Experience Requirements Education, counseling, health and wellness, or related field. Minimum of three-years experience preferred. Job Duties
  • Provide evidenced-based program(s) with fidelity as defined by program parameters.
  • Be aware of most recent information and research in the alcohol/substance abuse and Student Assistance fields.
  • Maintain appropriate records for each student abiding by State and Federal recording and confidential guidelines.
  • Report program information and results data to supervisor and to the WITNYS online system.
This is a 70-hour, bi-weekly position.
