Overview
A fast-growing consumer goods company in the housewares and tabletop category is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of imported finished goods. This role will be responsible for managing overseas suppliers, production schedules, quality assurance, compliance, and cost optimization across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
🏭 Production & Supplier Management
- Manage end-to-end production for finished goods, ensuring on-time and cost-effective execution.
- Partner with overseas vendors (primarily in Asia) to align on requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
- Review and approve lab dips, PP & TOP samples, verifying specifications for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to retail customer routing guides and packaging/labeling standards.
📦 Order & Inventory Coordination
- Track purchase orders, confirm accuracy, and manage timelines.
- Collaborate with merchandising, logistics, and sales teams to align production with business needs.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure proper storage and efficient turnover.
- Work with procurement to balance stock availability with cost efficiency.
✅ Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Oversee third-party inspections and factory audits.
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues quickly with suppliers.
- Coordinate product testing to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer standards.
🚢 Logistics & Documentation
- Manage freight forwarders, customs brokers, and shipping partners to ensure timely importation and delivery.
- Handle import/export documentation and customs compliance.
- Calculate and track landed costs while optimizing freight spend.
📊 Reporting & Process Improvement
- Maintain production records and generate reports on lead times, landed costs, and vendor performance.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and cost savings.
- Stay current on sourcing trends, materials, and manufacturing innovations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Business, or related field.
- 2+ years in import production management (housewares, tabletop, or related consumer goods preferred).
- Strong Excel proficiency and experience with ERP systems.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers (China and India strongly preferred).
- Solid knowledge of supply chain logistics, quality control, and import/export documentation.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with retail compliance, private label production, and sustainable sourcing is a plus.
- Experience with glassware production/construction highly preferred.
