Unit NotesDepartment: PACU | RN**EPIC EXPERINECE REQUIRED****MedSol Interview/Auto Offer**Unit Post Operative Care Boise Hospital Grnd Flr# of beds 31Phase 1 and Phase 2? Phase I and II (completed in one area) 3 total recovery areas- separated by outpatient (adult outpatients), main (adult inpatients), and peds (inpatient and outpatient peds) Will likely work in all areas throughout shiftNurse: Patient Ratios 1:2 based on ASPAN standards 25-26 RNs are staffed Mon-Fri, 2 RNs overnight Mon-Sun, 1 RN scheduled on Sat/Sun with call team (travelers do not take call)Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, PALSCommon Cases All surgical specialties. A lot of total joints, neuro, cardiac, plastics, cath lab, IR, endoscopy. Any patient that requires general anesthesia will be recovered in our PACU. (Volume 75-90 cases/day) Peds-a lot of ENT (as young as months old)-tonsillectomies, ear tubes, can get complicated children with big spine surgeries. We are the area's children's hospital. Open hearts are NOT recovered in PACUExperience or 'Must have' skills Must have experience traveling and caring for both children and adults. We prefer candidates from large hospitals that have had at least 2 years in PACU. EMR EPIC experience requiredIs there a manager/Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge nurses- rarely take patients Manager/ANMs-work Mon-FriAre there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios We staff 6-7 CNAs Mon-Fri Mainly help with transport but do help with mobility assessments, taking out IVs, bladder trials, can do EKGs and phlebotomy, room turnover, stretcher cleaningRT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) All RT equipment- patients rarely come out intubated, if they do RT is called to help support; many have an oral airway in place upon arrivalICU patients - do they recover in PACU? Yes- unless they remain intubatedRNs read strips? Yes, electronicallyShifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) No self scheduling option.4 nine hour shifts Mon-Fri. Shift end times are 2030, 2130, or 2230.Option to have a 3 day weekend. Weeknight/Call Requirements not required, but may ask for volunteers if there is a needWeekend/Call Requirements not required, but may ask for volunteers if there is a needHoliday/Call Requirements not required, but may ask for volunteers if there is a needWhat is call response time? will discuss if they take a call shiftFloating Requirements Floating rarely happens. If they would it would only be in Meridian or Nampa (PACU). If a traveler has preop experience may float them to preop.Scrub Color/Dress Code blue scrubs suppliedHow many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? Generally, 3 days to learn the three recovery areas: peds, adult inpatient, adult outpatientAdditional Notes We have a happy department, and we appreciate working with contract nurses. We are very welcoming and end up becoming good friends. There are lots of fun activities in Boise. Most contract nurses extend. We primarily use travelers due to medical leaves. This is the busiest PACU in the system. We have a great anesthesia team that is always readily available. Use Voalte phone for communication- can text surgeons or anesthesia if needed.**This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles.
