The Construction Manager – Base Building will lead the design and delivery of large-scale building shells and structural systems for cutting-edge AI data centers. This role is critical to ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-efficient execution of projects valued in the hundreds of millions.
Key Responsibilities
- Project LeadershipOversee all phases of base building construction, including structural frameworks, exterior enclosures, roofing, and primary mechanical systems.
- Quality & ComplianceConduct site inspections, enforce safety standards, and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Stakeholder ManagementServe as the point of contact between internal teams, contractors, and external partners, resolving issues and driving alignment.
- Contract & Vendor OversightNegotiate and manage agreements to secure quality, timelines, and budget adherence.
- Budget & ScheduleMaintain project discipline around cost and schedule, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- CollaborationPartner closely with engineering, design, and operations groups to ensure seamless project integration.
- ReportingProvide regular progress updates, flagging key milestones, risks, and solutions.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in construction management with a strong base building focus (data centers, industrial, or commercial facilities preferred).
- Proven success managing large-scale projects, ideally exceeding $100M in scope.
- Technical knowledge of structural, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Proficiency with construction management platforms (Procore, Primavera, etc.).
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to support multiple project sites.
Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree or certifications in construction management.
- Prior work on hyperscale or mission-critical facilities.
- Familiarity with sustainable and lean construction practices.
- Advanced knowledge of complex electrical or mechanical systems.
