Job Description :

Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., Managers of the American P&I Club, a marine liability mutual insurance association, and Eagle Ocean Agencies, is hiring a Compliance Analyst as part of its US team in New York City.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented analyst to join our unique insurance company which provides coverage to ships engaged in global commerce. As a Compliance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our company's operations adhere to applicable economic sanctions regulations, industry guidance, and internal policies. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and assess our compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, identify potential risks, and implement effective solutions to mitigate those risks. This is a full-time hybrid work position from the New York office.

Candidate Qualifications

Prior experience in the global shipping industry or compliance experience in the financial or insurance context is required.

Bachelor's degree and proven analytical and communications skills required. Graduate degree is preferred.

Prior experience with statutory/regulatory interpretation strongly preferred.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess potential risks.

Excellent attention to detail and follow-through with assigned responsibilities.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with domestic and foreign colleagues.

Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software and demonstrated ability to learn internal compliance platforms.

Professional certifications in compliance or risk management (e.g., CRCM, CCEP) desirable but not required.

Strong ethical standards and commitment to responsible handling of confidential/personal information.

Economic sanctions experience is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities include

  • Collaborate with different departments within the company to ensure compliance requirements are met and provide guidance on compliance-related matters internally and to insured clients;

  • Investigate any reported compliance violations, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions;

  • Provide training and education to employees on compliance-related topics to enhance their understanding of regulations and internal policies;

  • Conduct audits and internal testing to assess the company's compliance with applicable laws and implementation of internal policies;

  • Stay up to date with industry regulations and changes in regulatory requirements to ensure our company remains compliant;

  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards;

  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and responses to inquiries from regulatory agencies;

  • Receive training and participate in related testing on marine insurance principles;

  • Maintain documentation of compliance activities, including policies, procedures, and compliance reports;

  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with insured members, correspondents, brokers, lawyers, surveyors, and other third-party vendors.

  • Perform other duties as requested.
