The mission of the Secretary of State's office is to serve the public by meeting its legal responsibilities of collecting, securing, and communicating information that enhances commerce, ensures the integrity of Louisiana's elections, and preserves, presents, and makes accessible government information essential to Louisiana's operations and its recorded history.

We are looking for an Administrative Assistant 6 to represent the Office of the Secretary of State through personal contacts with state and local officials, state department heads/personnel, Division staff, and the public in accomplishing office operations. Assumes responsibility for administrative matters that do not require the personal attention of the Undersecretary.

An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

  • Communicating Effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas.
  • Demonstrating Accountability: The ability to accept ownership for your actions, behaviors, performance, and decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Five years of experience in administrative services. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.

Job Duties:

  • Relieve the Undersecretary of various administrative matters.
  • Compose/Transmit directives or assignments to division/department staff from the Undersecretary.
  • May attend meetings in lieu of the Undersecretary.
  • Schedule/Coordinates appointments/meetings for the Undersecretary.
  • Compose/Prepare correspondence.
  • Gather, compile, and organize information for the Undersecretary.
  • Receive and prioritize incoming mail.
