The College of Health & Human Services at Western Michigan University seeks to fill an academic advisor senior – retention position to provide comprehensive retention services to undergraduate students in a lead capacity.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.Three year's professional academic advising experience.Strong interpersonal written and verbal communications skills.Three year's of experience working with college students.Two year's of experience actively serving on department, college level or university wide committees.Two year's of active participation in professional development centered around academic advising, diversity , equity and inclusion within academic advising and the student experience for traditionally underrepresented populations, retention and leadership.Demonstrated awareness of the diverse needs of students, faculty and staff from underrepresented backgrounds.Demonstrated commitment to working with culturally diverse students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.Demonstrated commitment to promote and participate in professional development focused on the unique needs of culturally diverse students, faculty and staff including culturally responsive advising.Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.Desired QualificationsMaster's degree in a related field specific to hiring college, or higher education in general from an accredited institution.Professional academic advising experience at WMU.CompensationPay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package.To ApplyClick the Apply button to read the full job description, find the supplemental questions and required documents.Only applications submitted online will be considered.
