Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Environmental Air Specialist near Downers Grove, IL.

Direct Hire

Shift: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

  • Compensation:$130,000.00 - $175,000.00/ year
  • Base salary, plus eligibility for discretionary year-end incentive bonus program. Compensation is determined in accordance with local/state regulations and is based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Air Specialist to lead air permitting and compliance services for industrial, power, commercial, transportation, and manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, industry-leading Air & Noise practice, offering challenging work with diverse projects and opportunities for advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical consulting expertise and leadership to the Air & Noise staff, focusing on air quality impact analyses and meeting client needs.
  • Assist in managing the Air & Noise team, further developing client relationships, and supporting associated projects.
  • Lead the preparation of air permit application packages.
  • Verify the accuracy of emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions, maintenance, startup, and shutdown events.
  • Support air dispersion modeling using EPA-approved programs (e.g., AERMOD) in collaboration with air modeling practitioners.
  • Assist with the preparation and oversight of multi-media environmental reporting and plans, including SPCC, SWPPP, EPCRA, site assessments, and compliance inspections.
  • Prepare and present site investigation proposals, including scope of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Develop cost proposals and qualification statements in support of financial performance targets and standards.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less-experienced staff.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors; identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and present client and professional meeting presentations.
  • Manage sales and marketing efforts, identifying key pursuits.
  • Oversee QA/QC process adherence.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, related science, or engineering discipline from an accredited institution, plus 8 years of applicable experience (7 years with an engineering degree). Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Proficiency in air pollution permitting and compliance, environmental compliance audits, and environmental management systems.
  • Consulting experience preferred.
  • Ability to leverage existing client relationships for future business opportunities strongly preferred.
  • Superior technical writing capabilities.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations, with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, NSR/PSD, NESHAP, NSPS, Title V permitting, Title VI, and similar regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co-workers, and other professionals.
  • Expert analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to clearly present complex information.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
