Position Summary: The Career Center Student Associates play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the Career Center and assisting students in their career journey. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain professional experience in a dynamic and student-focused environment. Student Associates will work closely with Career Center programs to provide essential services and resources to the Hocking College community.
Responsibilities: - Career Program Support:
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of career educational programs, including workshops on resume writing, professional presence, and hiring application processes.
- Provide logistical support for workshops and events, such as room setup, material preparation, and participant registration.
- Assist with the promotion of career development workshops and events.
- Career Event Support:
- Assist in the organization and execution of four in-person and virtual hiring events, including employer communication, student registration, and event setup.
- Provide on-site support during hiring events, assisting employers and students as needed.
- Help compile event data, and follow up with participants.
- Career Center Operations:
- Provide front-desk support, including answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting walk-in students.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Career Center.
- Assist with data entry and record-keeping related to student appointments and program participation.
- Assist with the maintenance and updating of Career Center informational materials.
- Handshake Platform Support:
- Assist students with navigating and utilizing the Handshake online career networking/hiring platform.
- Provide basic technical support to students and employers using Handshake.
- Help maintain and update Handshake platform data.
- Career Closet Support:
- Help organize and maintain the Career Closet, ensuring a neat and professional appearance.
- Assist students in selecting appropriate professional and casual clothing.
- Help manage donations and inventory of the Career Closet.
- Student Advising Support:
- Help set up appointments for students to meet with Career Staff.
- Provide information on career resources and services available at the Career Center.
- Assist with the distribution of career-related materials.
- Convocation/Commencement Event Support:
- Assist with the Graduation Survey, Graduation Party and Ceremony Rehearsal.
- Provide support with day of support, cap and gown distribution/data collection.
- Help promote and support the Convocation Ceremony during New Student Orientation.
- General Support:
- Complete other duties as assigned by Career Center staff.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
Qualifications: - Current Hocking College student in good academic standing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Canva,PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with Handshake, or other online platforms is a plus.
- Ability to complete the Handshake Academy
- Interest in helping fellow students.
