SHIFT

ORE - Shift 1 (United States of America - Oregon)

A BRIEF OVERVIEW As a Grinding Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring precision in the production of medical devices. Your primary responsibility will be to perform grinding operations on development castings, adhering to supervisor or engineering specifications. This includes utilizing large belt grinders and various grinding tools to meticulously remove gates, burrs, and fins while maintaining exact tolerances.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Conduct relief and final finish grinding of castings as per technical cards.

  • Carry out grinding tasks on development castings following supervisor or engineering instructions.

  • Utilize belt grinders and fixtures to effectively remove excess materials to specified tolerances.

  • Employ measuring instruments such as feeler gauges and calipers to verify grinding dimensions.

  • Complete necessary documentation, including process routing cards and salvage routers.

  • Participate in the training of new personnel under the guidance of the department supervisor or lead.

  • Adhere to all training requirements.

  • Safely transport products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your work area, tools, and equipment.

  • Identify and report faulty equipment or any unusual situations to the supervisor or lead.

  • Comply with safety rules and regulations at all times.

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives actively.

  • Perform dimension inspections using a variety of gauges and measuring tools as needed.

  • Participate in weekly housekeeping activities as part of the 5S program.

  • Follow work orders to effectively operate on various parts and products.

  • Promote safety through practice and by reporting any concerns to the supervisor.

  • Contribute to quality assurance by adhering to all Quality Management Systems procedures and instructions.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred but not required: Experience in manufacturing.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS THAT ENABLE SUCCESS

  • Basic mathematical skills.

  • Experience with quality inspection and metrology tools.

  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures.

  • Basic understanding of quality management principles.

  • Experience in manufacturing safety practices.

  • Ability to learn actively and adapt.

  • Experience in data capture and entry.

  • Hand dexterity and attention to detail are essential.

  • Ability to manage time effectively.

  • Basic communication skills.

  • Understanding of blueprint reading.

  • Problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move around the workplace consistently.

  • Frequent movement of equipment within the facility.

  • Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders.

  • Occasional movement under or around equipment.

  • Constant handling and adjusting of various items and equipment.
