Senior Inclusion And Talent Development Specialist

Inclusion And Talent Development (ITD) within University Housing supports staff through professional development, training, and strategic leadership resources. This unit leads University Housings efforts around equity, diversity and inclusion through the design and delivery of strategic initiatives and development experiences. ITD also leads efforts that promote employee engagement, recognition, appreciation, and overall well-being.

Job Summary:

Leads and participates in ITD sponsored trainings, workshops, and employee engagement & recognition efforts. Implements priorities and goals that foster inclusive practices, professional growth, and meaningful engagement among University Housing staff. Supervises all student staff and interns in the ITD unit and manages a range of development efforts, trainings, and events that support the overall mission of University Housing. Supervisors will engage and implement University Housings diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Training And Facilitation
  • Develop appropriate training for key functions, including employee development, supervision, and administrative support.
  • Recommends, plans, and implements various training and development opportunities for University Housing staff, and evaluates effectiveness.
  • Researches, writes, and develops instructional materials for University Housing supervisory skills training and development workshops.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and promote the virtual asynchronous learning portfolio for University Housing employees.
  • Create and maintain ITDs On-Demand Trainings and conduct trainings as requested with various University Housing units.
  • Conduct evaluation of training needs of employee populations to develop department and employee training priorities.
Employee Development
  • Develops and manages ITD employee engagement and recognition efforts and initiatives.
  • Recommends, plans and implements special projects and mission-focused initiatives across the department.
  • Create, implement and execute student staff coaching initiative and training to enhance leadership and skill development.
  • Serve as a professional staff coach, providing coaching sessions that promote growth and accountability.
  • Conducts diagnostic interviews and assessments of employee needs and counsel/coach employees concerning career, skill, and performance development.
  • Direct and implement an inclusion dialogue workshop experience.
  • Manage and evaluate employee resource groups.
  • Collaborate on activities and initiatives in support of University Housings Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals, including the Culture and Climate Action Plan.
Administration
  • Work with Assistant Director to create department training goals, policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Participate in budget planning and monitor financial aspects of ITD-related projects.
  • Prepare reports, data analyses, and administrative materials to support decision-making and assessment efforts of various unit initiatives.
  • Recommends the development and implementation of departmental training and development policies and procedures.
  • Foster collaborative relationships to support training, inclusion, and talent development goals.
  • Create promotional materials and participant certificates for employee engagement and training activities.
  • Chair and serve on various unit and departmental committees and serve on campus committees and working groups related to inclusion and talent development, as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Of Student Staff
  • Supervise student staff and interns within Inclusion and Talent Development, including recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluating.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and evaluation to ensure meaningful work experiences for student staff and interns.
  • Develops priorities, goals, and objectives for student staff and interns.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling four years (48 months), from the categories below:

  • A. Credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in education or other fields related to training and development such as human resource administration or business administration or closely related fields.
  • 30 semester hours equals 12 months
  • 60 semester hours equals 24 months
  • 90 semester hours equals 36 months
  • 120 semester hours or a Bachelors degree
