About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to lead its fundraising, alumni and donor engagement, and operations and research efforts. The successful candidate will be a senior advancement professional with a proven track record in fundraising, campaign oversight, and alumni relations. The role involves partnering with internal and external constituents to shape the institution's future, particularly in the context of a significant and successful campaign. The CAO will be responsible for all aspects of the advancement program, ensuring it is highly integrated and closely connected to the academic mission. The ideal leader will have a personal history of developing high-performing teams and a strong background in major and principal gift fundraising. Applicants for the CAO position at the company should have at least 10 years' of leadership and management experience in a similar advancement role, with a focus on volunteer management and program development. The role requires an individual with outstanding organizational and communication skills, who can lead, manage, and develop high-performing teams. A champion of the liberal arts, the CAO must embody the institution's values of honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility. While not a strict requirement, previous experience in a similar institutional environment is advantageous. A bachelor's degree and a demonstrated history of building and sustaining a high-performing, donor-centric development operation are essential. The successful candidate will be expected to infuse the advancement program with renewed energy and a deep understanding of best practices, and to continuously assess and identify opportunities for professional growth within the team.
