Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the Pearl of the Prairie is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Responsibilities The purpose of the Line 10 Sanitation Operator role will adapt based on if the line is in production or clean state. During production state, this role will be responsible for safely operating the equipment used to produce our refrigerated scrambled product. Thorough knowledge of the product specifications, cook procedures and basic mechanical and technical knowledge of the equipment are required while documenting all parameter checks as prescribed (product temperature, weight, size, color, oven conditions, spiral conditions). During the cleaning cycle, this role will be responsible for effective cleaning in specified areas of the facility. The primary focus will be on ensuring health safety and food safety from day to day. This will be accomplished by understanding and applying GMP's, SSOP's, plant policies and procedures. All employees, customers and consumers benefit from the work of the sanitarian to ensure a safe product. This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. This role will ensure that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to start production run and maintain the desired production levels on all equipment on the production line. Know how and when to set and adjust all set points relating to mechanical equipment. Document in electronic forum thorough and accurate record of production data as outlined from the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) documentation. Ability to communicate with Lead and/or Supervisor issues and concerns pertaining to operations. Reduce shrink and waste output on production line and assist in the general good housekeeping of the area. Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. safely. Determine if the product meets proper specifications, taking actions as needed and escalating to the Food Safety Department as needed. Ensure regulatory compliance at all times. Disassemble, clean, sanitize and reassemble some production equipment along with cleaning and sanitizing the production work areas with the use of pressure sprayers, foamers, and other sanitation equipment. Assist in setup and start of designated production equipment. Assist in Clean Out of Place (COP) procedures. Complete the proper paperwork required of the position. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: At least one year of stable work history preferred. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and withstand constant motion. The ability to repeatedly lift and carry 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. safely. The ability to work indoors, on hard surfaces, in changing temperatures. Ability to travel stairs. Basic math skills and verbal skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Safety regulations, Sanitation procedures, and wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required. Basic mechanical skills with the ability to disassemble and reassemble production equipment Ability to learn Confined Space Entry procedures and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) Learn and adhere to chemical safety training Strong attention to detail when reassembling equipment Ability to achieve Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification Ability to operate specific equipment or tools
