POSITION TITLE: Admissions Counselor DIVISION: Academic Affairs DEPARTMENT: Enrollment Management REPORTS TO: Vice President of Enrollment Management PAY TYPE: Exempt WORKER TYPE: Full-Time UPDATED: January 2024 PAY: $43,888 This position requires extensive travel. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the recruitment of quality applicants from assigned geographic areas. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for all aspects of the recruitment counseling process as it pertains to the overall enrollment goals of KCAI. This role will have an assigned travel territory and an assigned goal of local school visits to complete. Due to recruitment-related travel, programs and events, the Admissions Counselor is often expected to work outside of traditional business hours. Intermittent evening and weekend hours are required. Essential Functional Responsibilities:
  • Create a travel plan that meets the assigned school visit goal and provides coverage for Portfolio Days, College Fairs, and other recruitment events.
  • Present KCAI accurately and enthusiastically in classrooms using a PowerPoint presentation.
  • Enter inquiry cards and portfolio reviews in a timely manner.
  • Maintain phone and texting correspondence with contacts (teachers, institutions, potential KCAI students), meet weekly call goals and participate in scheduled Phone-a-thons.
  • Use SLATE (Enrollment Management CRM) and other digital systems appropriately to assist in meeting recruitment goals.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing admission related special events.
  • Use a personal car for travel to local school visits. Track and submit mileage form reimbursement.
  • Maintain appropriate visibility at KCAI campus functions and events (gallery openings, receptions, and promotional events).
  • Shared responsibility for on- and off-campus information sessions, portfolio reviews, counselor meetings, virtual presentations, and other admission related events.
  • Prepare, in a timely manner, visit and event evaluations, expense/reimbursement reports, and paperwork associated with recruitment.
  • Serve as a liaison to both internal and external constituents as related to the role of an Admissions Counselor.
  • Assist with planning and implementing of the Pre-College Artlab and Educator ArtLab (PCAL and EAL)
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Understanding of the art and design school higher education landscape.
  • Ability to travel extensively, work on weekends and evenings, and work a non-traditional work schedule semester to semester.
  • Access to a reliable, insured car for local travel. (Will be reimbursed for mileage)
  • Possession and maintenance of a current, valid driver's license.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on high school visual art and design portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability and success at self-motivation and ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to work with multiple constituents with varied backgrounds and levels to successfully meet goals.
  • Knowledge of and effective use of organization and time management.
  • Extensive use of the computer and digital technologies.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute successfully admissions related activities.
  • Pleasant, courteous, and professional attitude and presence/appearance.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Required Experience/Education:
  • Experience in at least one of the following:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Studio expertise
    • Admissions experience
Preferred Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts
  • Art classroom teaching
  • Knowledge of foreign language
