Behavioral Health – RN – Evenings
Contract Details:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Length: 20 weeks
- Schedule: 5x8s (Evenings, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: Credentialing process takes 1 month; all documents due 2 weeks before start date
- Note: LA County has a slower feedback process (3–5 days after submission).
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to behavioral health patients in an inpatient setting.
- Administer medications and perform blood draws as required.
- Maintain patient safety in a secured or correctional health environment.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to manage treatment plans.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in EMR (Cerner).
- Adhere to facility and state guidelines for patient ratios and safety protocols.
Requirements:
- Active California RN License (must be valid or renewed before start; applicants awaiting licensure should contact their Senator's office to expedite).
- BLS and Fire Card certifications.
- MAB or CPI certification required.
- COVID-19 vaccination + booster (if eligible).
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required.
- Experience in corrections, detention centers, or secured/locked behavioral health units preferred.
- Must be comfortable with medication administration, blood draws, and working every other weekend.
Patient Population & Setting:
- Juvenile court behavioral services.
- Inpatient psychiatric care in a correctional/secured environment.
- Facility size: 420 beds.

- Scrub Colors: Any (Navy Blue or Black preferred).
- PPE: Provided by facility.
- Parking: Available on site.
- Pay Cycle: Sunday – Saturday.
