Role overview: The Chief Investment Officer is responsible for overseeing the establishment, maintenance and execution of SiriusPoint's strategic asset allocation targets, reviewing and opining on investment recommendations and the performance of those decisions for SiriusPoint and its direct subsidiaries. You will ensure the alignment of investment guidelines, processes, objectives and capabilities that enable SiriusPoint to achieve corporate goals and enhance overall profitability. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the investment portfolio and participate with other executive leaders in aligning the goals and objectives for all SiriusPoint entities.
- Maintain regular communication with the Investment Managers, providing strategic input and understanding into asset allocation and portfolio composition relative to desired outcomes.
- Provide investment updates to the Investment Committee of the Board and facilitate strategic discussions, including investment reports and risk/return opportunities.
- Oversee the implementation of investment policies and practices, ensuring they align with corporate and re/insurance regulatory risk parameters and meet the organization's objectives. Portfolio oversight includes investment alignment to enterprise-based asset allocation targets, monitoring exposures, capital consumption, ALM.
- Forge close relationships with senior leaders across business units and investment managers to understand evolving liability structures and ensure optimal strategies and liquidity.
- Serve as a key liaison with SiriusPoint finance and accounting teams and ensure timely and accurate responses to information requests and reporting of investment holdings.
- Assist with asset tagging based on liability profiles and contribute to in-force rotation and new money portfolio pricing.
- Contribute to the company's leadership, influencing organizational strategic decisions and investment risk management as a member of the Senior Leadership team.
- Coordinate with investment managers to oversee internal investment risk management and portfolio analytics processes that ensure proper evaluation of risks and potential returns.
- Ensure a high degree of transparency into investment performance and risk.
- Set up suitable controls, financial processes and methodologies, and ensure they are effectively utilized.
- Assist with creating ad hoc materials and participating in regulatory and rating agency update meetings.

Your skills and abilities
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; Master's degree (M.A.) or CFA preferred; and at least 15 years of related experience, including prior experience managing insurance portfolios.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NAIC / RBC and BMA / BSCR capital regimes
- CFA Designation required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of investment practices, procedures and principles, able to interpret and analyze complex concepts and apply them innovatively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions to pragmatically solve complex problems
- Strong negotiating skills and ability to resolve conflicts to achieve objectives
- Self-motivated and proactive with a focus on continuous professional development
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop direct reports' skills and team culture
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards of directors
- Ability to apply logical thinking across a wide range of problems
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, customers, and external parties
- Ability to manage large quantities of information and make significant decisions with incomplete information
