Overview

Director, Software Engineering (Bank Modernization). Capital One is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead, manage, mentor, and build an extremely talented software engineering team to deliver a game changing core banking platform that powers multiple lines of business within the Bank. This leader must attract and recruit top talent and have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. You will

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers in building our core banking platform.
• Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open source products across all platforms.
• Modernize existing tech stacks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for automation and machine learning.
• Partner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new applications.
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across mobile and web full-stack development tools and technologies.
• Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
• Encourage innovation and the use of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
• Create proofs of concept and shepherd projects through to production.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in software development
• At least 5 years of experience in developing scalable web applications and architectural standards
• At least 5 years of experience in people management
• At least 3 years of experience with cloud technologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or Master's Degree in Software Engineering
• 3+ years experience with Amazon Web Services
• 3+ years of experience with Core Banking platforms or related services and technologies

The salary information varies by location and is provided for candidate awareness. For New York, NY: 287,800 - 328,500 for Director, Software Engineering. Other locations will follow the pay range for that location. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
