Overview

174 Power Global, headquartered in Irvine, California, is a member of Hanwha Group, a Fortune Global 500 firm. The company designs, builds and manages renewable energy solutions and is expanding into data centers, leveraging internal knowledge to enable clean/renewable powered sites for data center development.

Position Overview

The Director, Strategic Utility Engagement will act as a key external-facing strategist to support the origination and execution of long-term framework agreements with utilities and corporate off-takers. This individual will leverage a deep understanding of utility procurement, regulatory processes, and corporate buyer dynamics to anticipate challenges, influence decision-making, and drive partnerships that go beyond traditional PPAs.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a strategic facilitator for origination and execution of framework agreements with utilities and corporate energy buyers.
  • Serve as an internal advisor and problem solver, recommending alternative approaches when regulatory, procurement, or planning hurdles arise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategies align with counterpart procurement, IRP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory, policy, and market developments to anticipate approval challenges and adjust strategies proactively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with utilities, regulators, and other key stakeholders to position the company as a trusted partner.
Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years of experience in the U.S. energy sector, with exposure to utility procurement, regulatory affairs, or large-scale origination.
  • Direct experience with utility RFPs, contract negotiations, and regulatory filings (e.g., PUCs) strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of IOU and corporate buyer processes, including procurement, IRP alignment, and regulatory approvals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to translate counterpart organizational challenges into actionable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal functions.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prior experience working inside an IOU procurement, resource planning, or regulatory team.
  • Background in regulatory affairs, energy policy, or external affairs related to renewable development.
  • Strong professional network with IOUs, regulators, and policy stakeholders.
Compensation

$180,000 to $210,000 Salary
