Warsaw Area Career Center (WACC)Reports to: WACC Director General Summary: The Career Counselor at WACC is a one-year trial position. It provides individualized and group support to students in career exploration, technical education pathways, postsecondary planning, and work-based learning opportunities. This role guides students in identifying career interests, understanding workforce demands, and making informed decisions about their future. The Career Counselor works in partnership with WCHS School Counselors and helps facilitate the scheduling of students into WACC career-related classes in alignment with their academic and career goals. Essential Functions:
  • Facilitates career exploration and development planning through assessments, individualized meetings, and classroom workshops.
  • Advises students on dual credit options, industry-recognized certifications, and postsecondary education or training opportunities.
  • Helps students identify and apply for scholarships related to four-year colleges, two-year programs, and technical education pathways.
  • Supports students in planning and executing their transition to postsecondary opportunities, including college, apprenticeships, and full-time employment.
  • Tracks individual student career plans and postsecondary outcomes.
  • Assists students with the creation and revision of résumés, cover letters, and digital portfolios to support college and career readiness.
  • Supports the planning and implementation of job fairs, hiring fairs, career panels, employer presentations, and mock interviews.
  • Refers students to school or community resources when barriers to employability are identified (e.g., transportation, housing, mental health).
  • Promotes the value of career and technical education to students, families, staff, and the broader community.
  • Maintains confidentiality in compliance with school policies and applicable laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the WACC Director.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in School Counseling, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid Indiana Teacher License, Workplace Specialist License (or the ability to obtain one), or Indiana School Counselor License preferred. Consideration may be given to candidates who hold relevant industry certifications and possess relevant experience.
  • Experience: Preferred experience in career coaching, workforce development, career and technical education (CTE), or school counseling.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Indiana Graduation Requirements and the Next Level Programs of Study.
Length of Contract: 185 days Employment Terms: This is a one-year position for the 2025-2026 school year. Continuation of the position beyond the first year is contingent upon funding and program needs. Position Type: Exempt
