ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Note: Other duties may be assigned • Plan,coordinate, and lead group and individual activities that support elders'physical, mental, spiritual, and recreational needs. • Assesseach elder's preferences, interests, abilities, and creativity to developpersonalized activity care plans. • Participatein care team conferences to ensure activity needs are addressed, met to theelder's satisfaction, and integrated with the MDS. • Maintainaccurate documentation, including participation charts and progress notes, tomonitor elder satisfaction, support certification requirements, and aid indeveloping activity in-services for staff. • Interviewelders and families to better understand individual recreational needs. • Attenddepartment meetings to address resident care issues and stay informed ondepartmental updates. • Assistthe Director in training and onboarding new activity staff. • Monitorand maintain activity equipment and supplies. • Effectivelymanage time to balance elder interaction, activity planning, documentation, andproject work. SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES SupervisoryResponsibilities: This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities at thistime. However, the organization reserves the right to assign supervisory dutiesas business or regulatory needs evolve. CONTINUING EDUCATION Attend workshops and other educational programs to stay current in newdevelopments in gerontology and activity programming and to maintainprofessional certificates and licensure requirements. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representativeof the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OREXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or five to sixyears related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience. Previous experience working with older adults in longterm care or health care setting. Experience in facilitating recreationalprogramming desired. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operational andmaintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and federal and state regulations.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speakeffectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, usingwhole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concretevariables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability tointerpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, orschedule form. CERTIFICATES,LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified (or currently eligible for certification) as an Activity DirectorCertified (ADC) or Activity Consultant. Must have completed the 36-hour courseor 90-hour Activity Director course. Must have a valid driver's license withgood driving record.
