Position Overview: The Patient Registration Specialist is responsible for welcoming and guiding patients during their initial hospital experience. You will collect vital demographic and insurance details, ensuring a smooth registration process and facilitating proper billing and reimbursement. We prioritize exceptional patient experiences through professionalism and empathy.

Schedule: This Full-time position requires 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Location: 178 Grand View Dr., Cobleskill, NY

We provide 4-6 weeks of comprehensive on-the-job training, with the schedule to be discussed on your first employment day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with patients and families in person or via phone to complete the registration process, collecting essential demographics and insurance details.
  • Utilize computer systems to accurately enter and verify patient data in real time.
  • Gather necessary clinical information and handle referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-authorizations per insurance guidelines.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits while generating price estimates and completing re-verifications as required.
  • Collect patient co-pays and discuss financial obligations with patients to ensure transparency.
  • Identify and manage outstanding balances from previous visits, seeking to collect any amounts due.
  • Collaborate with provider offices to confirm and schedule patient appointments before discharge.
  • Address patient inquiries related to various topics with compassion and respect.
  • Generate and analyze patient data reports, following up on discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of registration requirements across various departments such as Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Must be able to work onsite at our Cobleskill, NY facility.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in scheduling and authorizations.
  • Healthcare experience and knowledge of clinical procedures.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.

Physical and Work Environment:

  • Extended periods of standing while using a Workstation on Wheels, phone, and headset (up to 10 hours).
