The Math & Science Department Director & Curriculum Director is a dual-role position responsible for leading the development of the Mathematical Sciences program while overseeing school-wide curriculum initiatives. This individual will cultivate a Christ-centered academic culture, support faculty, and ensure curriculum alignment with the classical education model.
Requirements
- Agree with Donum Dei's Statement of Faith and serve as a minister of the Gospel.
- Complete professional development requirements and safety training throughout the school year as applicable.
- Attend Morning Assembly (M/W/F at 8am) and Friday Staff Meetings (1:45-2:45) as applicable.
- Participate in school activities such as Parent Orientation, Back to School Night, The Greatest Gift, equipping events and fundraisers as applicable.
- Have a love for children, display a love for learning, and commit to cultivate that love for learning in students.
- Devote yourself wholeheartedly to the Lord and be in good standing with a Christian church.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Professional working experience in specified job areas.
- Pursue the ACSI Teacher Certification, Classical Educator Equivalent, CA Teacher Credential, or Master's in Classical Education within two years of initial employment.
Role & Responsibilities
Math & Science Department Leadership
- Program Development: Build and strengthen the Math, Science, and Logic programs, fostering a culture of academic excellence and spiritual formation.
- Curriculum Oversight: Guide the selection, integration, and development of Math and Science curricula, ensuring alignment with classical education principles.
- Teacher Support & Evaluation: Observe classes, review lesson plans, provide feedback, and ensure ongoing professional development for faculty.
- Student Assessments: Oversee standardized testing for accreditation and refine student placement assessments in math and science.
- Extracurricular Programs: Develop and supervise Math Club, Math Olympics, and Science Fair participation.
- Department Budget Management: Oversee budget allocations for professional development, materials, and field trips.
- Recruitment & Retention: Assist HR in hiring and retaining top-quality faculty in the Math and Science Department.
- Accreditation Contributions: Serve on the accreditation committee, ensuring compliance with ACSI standards in math and science education.
Curriculum Director Responsibilities
- Curriculum Coordination: Manage curriculum orders and oversee school-wide curriculum mapping.
- Faculty Collaboration: Work with teachers to complete and refine curriculum maps across all grade levels.
- High School Preparation: Ensure students are academically prepared for high school through a well-structured curriculum.
- Annual Curriculum Reviews: Lead curriculum evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with educational goals.
Teaching Responsibilities (Up To 15 Hours Per Week)
- Teach Math, Science, and Logic courses, modeling classical education principles.
- Develop and implement lesson plans, syllabi, and curriculum materials.
- Maintain grades and assessments through FACTS and provide student progress reports.
- Communicate with parents and students regarding assignments and expectations.
- Integrate hands-on learning through labs, experiments, and logic exercises.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support teacher recruitment and training.
- Assist with new family recruitment efforts.
- Participate in accreditation reviews and self-study initiatives.
- Contribute to school-wide events, professional development, and strategic planning.
Schedule & Compensation
Working Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30-4:30, including but not limited to school trimesters, required in-service days, and required professional development days.
Employment Type: Full Time Exempt - 40 hours per week.
Set PTO and Sick Pay: Based on the published Academic Calendar. San Francisco County Sick Pay: 72 hours annually accrued at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked.
Compensation: Compensation is an annual salary paid bimonthly with partial salary paid as tuition credit if applicable/requested. Benefits and employee contributed 401(k) are also available for full-time employees.
