Remote Caregivers
Under direct supervision of operations manager, performs benefit investigation tasks such as running test claims, submitting prior authorizations, documenting on the patient chart, and completing patient outreach and follow up calls.
Major responsibilities include:
- Performs duties in assigned practice area. Required to work in other practice areas, as staffing requires.
- Processes orders using pharmacy computer system. Delivers patient medications to medication room areas and stocks automated medication stations (Pyxis machines).
- Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting routine technical problems.
- Prepares and packages most forms of medications. Prepares sterile products using aseptic technique in compounding parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, and other IV drugs.
- Maintains inventory including floor stock medication. Reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications.
- Maintains required documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements and maintains respect for patient confidentiality. Assists in generating pharmacy reports.
- Conducts medication room inspections in assigned patient care area in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assembles drugs in an accurate and efficient manner for pharmacists to check; maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Repackages bulk drugs in unit of use containers.
- Assists in quality indicator monitoring.
- Assists with yearly inventory in assigned areas.
- Participates in identifying problems or areas for improvement and assists supervisor with problem solving projects and improving operations; participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and/or teams.
Position qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have successfully completed a Board-approved pharmacy technician-training program by obtaining a passing score on a Board-approved pharmacy technician assessment exam.
Preferred:
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Required experience:
- Proficient in math. Knowledge and ability to use a computer for data entry.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency, and dependability.
Work schedule Monday-Friday with shifts between the hours of 8am-5pm.
