The Custodian performs routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks in the upkeep of campus buildings or areas of assignment. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission. Essential functions include: emptying trash containers and removing trash to disposal areas; cleaning and dusting furniture, fixtures, shelving, cabinets, door and window trim, and related furnishings; waxing furniture; sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors; vacuuming and shampooing rugs and carpets; washing and cleaning pictures as well as windows and door glass; cleaning restrooms/bathrooms; disinfecting fixtures; replacing supplies; reporting items that require repair and maintaining stock of supplies; aiding in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment between departments and throughout the campus; participating in setting up, arranging, and taking down furniture for special events; sweeping or shoveling snow from building entrances; washing and drying dishes; cleaning refrigerators, stoves, and kitchen areas; making and changing bed linens; removing soiled laundry to the laundry facility; returning and putting away clean laundry; and performing other duties as assigned within the scope, responsibility, and requirements of the job.
