Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in this role will assist in the implementation and coordination of the hospital's Risk Management and Claims Program. The position involves conducting, coordinating, and overseeing investigations by hospital administrators to ensure the integrity and timely completion of those investigations. This is a vital role focused on improving safety, quality, and regulatory compliance within the healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Risk Management in overseeing risk-related activities and investigations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and investigations related to incidents, allegations of abuse, and regulatory concerns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to state agencies and oversight bodies.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, and administrative leadership at all levels.
  • Lead or participate in special committees; prepare and document meeting minutes.
  • Maintain awareness of hospital policies, state regulations, and reporting requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Risk Management within a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Clinical background as a Registered Nurse (RN), Physician Assistant (PA), or Medical Doctor (MD) preferred.
  • Prior experience in psychiatric and/or substance abuse settings is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Justice Center investigations, NYS DOH requirements, and allegation/incident reporting.
  • Experience with regulatory and oversight agencies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, including experience leading committees and documenting meetings.
Requirements
  • License: Valid and active RN license in New York State (Required to submit)
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
