Skilled Healthcare Center - Now Hiring: Medical Records Clerk – Nursing Home Setting

Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

Join our dedicated long-term care team as a Medical Records Clerk, where your attention to detail and commitment to resident privacy help ensure high-quality care for every individual we serve. If you take pride in keeping things organized and compliant, this role could be a perfect fit.

What You'll Do:
  • Accurately maintain, file, and organize medical records for long-term care residents (paper and electronic)

  • Scan and upload documents to the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system promptly

  • Review records for completeness and compliance with federal, state, and facility standards

  • Respond to internal and external requests for records while upholding strict confidentiality protocols

  • Work closely with nursing, admissions, and administrative teams to maintain accurate and updated records

  • Help facilitate audits and prepare records for regulatory reviews or inspections

  • Track resident admissions, discharges, and transfers from a records management perspective

  • Assist with the release of information process, ensuring proper authorizations are in place

  • Contribute to improving documentation workflows and help train new staff on procedures

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; coursework in health information or office administration a plus

  • 1+ years of Experience working with medical records in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., PointClickCare, MatrixCare) and medical record software

  • Understanding of HIPAA and long-term care compliance requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare setting

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Dependable, self-directed, and team-oriented
