Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc.Job DescriptionJob Title: Career Navigator - Team LeadDivision: Mission ServicesDepartment: Career ServicesReports To: Assistant Director / Program CoordinatorFLSA Status: ExemptReviewed By: Human ResourcesSUMMARYProvides Career navigation including case management, employment preparation services, jobplacement and job retention services after placement to program participants in Career Servicesprograms. The Career Navigator - Team Lead will counsel participants and prepare them foremployment, economic self-sufficiency and social adjustment, and ensures program participantsare progressing towards the goals identified in the Individual Plan. The Career Navigator - Team Lead will assist with training employees, auditing case files, planning, assigning and guiding work, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and other supervisory responsibilities as directed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may beassigned.Provides case management services to participants:• Record all participants and other stakeholders' contact (case noting).• Conducts outreach, intake, assessments, and orientations for Career Services programs.• Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests,interviews, and professional sources to appraise participants' interests, aptitudes, abilities,and personality characteristics for vocational planning and/or employment placements.• Compiles, studies, and provides occupational, educational, resources, andeconomic information to participants to assist them in setting and carrying out identified goals and objectives.• Develop individual plans for participants that include appropriate goals and objectivesrelative to abilities, interests, needs, experience, assessments, and labor market trendsand updates as needed. Tracks participant progress to ensure continual progressiontowards their goals.• Assists individuals to understand and overcome barriers to economic self-sufficiency andsocial adjustment, and determines the support services necessary to overcome thesebarriers.• Conducts pre-employment training, acculturation training, financial literacy training, andother topics as needed for program participants.• Researches, develops, tracks, and maintains a network of community resources fordeveloping and implementing Individual Plans in the community.• Identifies vocational training opportunities in the community. Refers and coordinatesvocational training for participants as needed.• Develops and maintains effective relationships with resource partners, business and industryin order to educate and advises regarding program services. Engages local employers topromote the hiring of program participants.• Provides job placement support services to assure job maintenance and retention.• Assists participants in identifying other resources to enhance their opportunities for economicself-sufficiency and social adjustment within the community and makes referrals as needed.• Communicates professionally with supervisors, coworkers, program participants, communityagencies, and other stakeholders involved in service provision.• Assists in developing and updating pre-employment training and other related training materials and curriculum. Selects or develops teaching aids such as multimedia visual aids,computer tutorials, etc. to enhance participant learning.• Ability to deal effectively with difficult and on occasion, irate participants. Demonstrates abilityto de-escalate individuals with tact and understanding.• Ensures that client confidentiality is maintained in accordance with contract, State, andFederal law including HIPAA.Completes all funder requirements in a timely manner:• Maintains accurate and complete records for all program participants for the purpose of casefile maintenance, program reporting, and monthly billing.• Compiles information for site reports including but not limited to Monthly MilestoneAchievement Form, Counselor's reports, quarterly reports, outcome management report etc.Conducts job development activities with a variety of businesses to obtain employment opportunities for participants: • Works closely with the business community to stay abreast of job trends and current labor market needs • Participates directly with the business community to inform the business community of the job placement services offered by the program and solicit job placement opportunities. Coordinates program activities for the specific site.Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner, utilizing protective clothing and/or equipmentwhen appropriate. Complies with all safety standards.Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company and safety policies and procedures.Reports all program issues to the Program Coordinator or Assistant Director as appropriate.Responsible to understand and support CARF accreditation standards.Attends and participates in meetings, staff development sessions, and in-service training asassigned.Works on other projects or tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Assistant Director.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Assists Assistant Director / Program Coordinator in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies andapplicable laws. Responsibilities include reviewing and reporting work performance issues to theAsst. Director / Program Coordinator, assisting with training employees, auditing case files, planning, assigning and guiding work, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and othersupervisory responsibilities as directed.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. A.) from four-year college or university preferred and one to two yearsrelated experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Proficiency inMicrosoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; Supervisory experience preferred. Human Services experience within the immigrant community preferred for positions requiring working with immigrants.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Abilityto speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. For positionsrequiring working with immigrants, ability to communicate in a second language preferredMATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonfractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bargraphs.REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations whereonly limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,oral, diagram, or schedule form.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSRegular travel is required, must have a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
