Position Summary

Responsible for setting a long-term strategic vision (10+ years) and overseeing planning and day-to-day operations of supply chain and logistics, including attending donation centers (ADSs), fleet management, route planning, warehousing, recycling, trash, post retail, and secondary market operations. Involved in setting organizational strategy and vision. Aligns with financial and operational performance to create economic value and reports to the Executive Team regarding all aspects of the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and stay current in donations, secondary markets, and recycling services to evaluate market performance and increase sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop strategic vendor partnerships and analyze information about performance or procurement program success.
  • Provide strategic operating partnerships with Donated Goods Program (DGP), including donations, supply chain, secondary markets, eCommerce, and retail stores. Ensure that all departments\' capabilities and priorities align with the overall business strategy and initiatives. Collaborate with department leadership to identify the necessary capabilities and capacity to maximize the value of shared investments.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop and implement associate engagement strategies to support GWH\'s mission-driven service models and emphasize equality.
  • Work closely with the Executive Team to align the people with the overall business strategy, focusing on operational performance, enhancing GWH\'s associates\' experience, and fostering an inclusive culture that strengthens the associate value proposition to attract, develop, and retain talent.
  • Ensure efficient fleet operations in alignment with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and TxDMV expectations where required and as a best practice across the fleet.
  • Analyze and optimize routes and operations to maximize service efficiency across all locations and on-demand services as needed.
  • Evaluate supply chain and logistics platforms to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
  • Proactively identify and address issues while driving continuous improvement in operations, aligning with broader organizational goals.
  • Regularly assess and enhance the department\'s effectiveness to ensure the needs of the business are consistently met.
  • Participate in community events, public meetings, and conferences to build awareness and strengthen community ties.
  • Oversee chain and logistics operations and lead associates\' development and training.
  • Drive succession planning within and beyond the department, while actively sourcing talent.
  • Create project priorities and timelines, communicate a clear vision for change, and allocate resources to support key initiatives.
  • Lead change through effective communication and coaching, build leadership alignment, and often serve as project manager for major initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing support for DGP and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure streamlined logistics and a cohesive approach to donation flow and retail support.
  • Mentor leadership talent, cultivate a learning culture, and align development with GWH\'s guiding principles.
  • Oversee compliance with legal and safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and maintain operational integrity.
  • Ensure that accidents, incidents, near-miss reports, vehicle defects, traffic violations, or vehicle damage are reported in a timely manner according to GWH policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Be punctual and have dependable attendance.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver\'s license and liability qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor\'s degree is required.
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Areas of expertise : strategic planning and managing complex operational systems.
  • Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office).
  • Knowledge of fleet management and route and load planning enterprise software platforms.
  • Knowledge of US DOT / FMCSA regulations is required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and comfortable with presenting and public speaking.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
