Solar and Battery O&M (Operations & Maintenance) ManagerRenewable Energy Partners Inc is an established and growing commercial solar company. We are looking to add a highly organized and motivated Solar and Battery O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Manager to the REP family. This candidate will have a versatile role on the team and will work alongside the Project Manager, Construction Superintendent, and our Procurement and Engineering teams.The Solar and Battery O&M Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable functioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is critical in the rapidly expanding renewable energy sector, demanding both strong technical expertise and management skills.Key responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily operations and maintenance: Ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of solar and battery assets, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Handle new non-company installed or owned O&M inquiries: Price, proposal, manage new 3rd party O&M inquiries to grow the O&M Division.
- SCREC Sells: Manage relationship with WREGIS, aggregator vendor, and customer for the sale of Solar Renewable Energy Credits. Collaborate with the accounting department when transactions occur.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, perform maintenance tasks, and repairs to optimize system performance and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshooting and resolving system faults: Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical, mechanical, and SCADA systems, addressing faults promptly.
- Team and RMA vendor management: Manage and coordinate activities of technicians and subcontractors, provide training, and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Performance monitoring and analysis: Use SCADA and other platforms to track system performance, evaluate output, and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Budget and resource management: Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance logs, and ensure efficient resource allocation within budget constraints.
- Compliance and safety: Ensure adherence to electrical codes (NEC, NESC), safety regulations (OSHA), environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
- Reporting and documentation: Prepare technical reports, performance analyses, and maintain detailed records of O&M activities.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Work with internal teams and external partners, providing updates and information as needed.
- QA/QC inspections and commissioning: Lead quality assurance checks, system commissioning, and diagnostics.
- Development support: Assist with technical due diligence, risk assessment, and design specifications for new projects, especially pre-operational assets.
Essential skills and qualifications:
- Technical expertise: Deep knowledge of solar PV systems, BESS, inverters, and electrical systems up to 1000VDC and 480VAC.
- O&M experience: 5-8 years of hands-on experience with commercial or residential battery energy storage systems.
- SCADA and monitoring platforms: Proficiency with monitoring platforms used in renewable energy systems.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: Excellent diagnostic skills for technical faults and system malfunctions.
- Leadership and team management: Proven ability to lead technicians, provide training, and enforce safety standards.
- Communication and reporting: Strong written and verbal skills for technical reports and stakeholder communication.
- Analytical skills: Ability to analyze performance data and implement efficiency solutions.
- Education/certifications: A technical degree in electrical engineering or renewable energy, or related certifications (e.g., NABCEP, OSHA 30) preferred.
