We partner with family temporary housing sites across New York, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success. We connect students with our mentors for in-person and online programs.

Role OverviewWe are seeking a Deputy Director of Development and Grants (Volunteer) to lead MAP's fundraising and grant development strategy. This role will oversee donor engagement, grant research, proposal writing, and relationship-building with funders and partners. You will play a critical role in sustaining and expanding MAP's programs by securing the financial resources needed to serve students and families across NYC. The ideal candidate is strategic, detail-oriented, and passionate about leveraging philanthropy to drive educational equity and social impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and grant strategy aligned with MAP's mission and goals.
  • Research and identify funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individual donors.
  • Write and oversee compelling grant proposals, reports, and donor communications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and philanthropic partners.
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather data, budgets, and impact narratives.
  • Manage a grants and fundraising calendar, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Track fundraising progress, analyze funding trends, and provide leadership with regular updates.
  • Support donor stewardship activities, campaigns, and special fundraising initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising and grant writing.
  • Strong track record of securing grants and donor contributions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate program goals and impact into compelling narratives.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with fundraising tools, grant databases, and CRM systems.
  • Passion for education equity and serving underserved communities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with NYC-based or education-focused nonprofits.
  • Knowledge of government, foundation, and corporate giving structures.
  • Established relationships with philanthropic networks or funders.
  • Leadership experience in nonprofit development.
