Overview

Responsibilities
- Supervise and train all Engineering and Security staff in customer service, empowerment, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention standards.
- Create, approve, and post all Engineering staff schedules according to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Develop and manage the department budget; develop financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss reviews.
- Develop and implement plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in an acceptable state of repair.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws; implement a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
- Ensure life safety and emergency equipment is inspected, tested, and certified per standards; handle room maintenance requests promptly.
- Respond to alarms to determine location and cause, determine emergency status, report findings, and take action as necessary.
- Assist with special projects and renovations; participate in energy conservation programs.
- Review guest and meeting planner feedback to identify and correct problems promptly.
- Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); administer vendor contracts controlled by the engineering department.
- Support and participate in Highgate Hotel programs; lead and participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field; or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of related management experience; or a 2-year college degree with 3+ years of related management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Stationary Engineer's license if required by local code.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required.
- Ability to work long hours; physical ability to perform required tasks.
- Travel related to company business sometimes required.
- Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor; effective verbal and written communication with all staff and guests.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and solve problems; maintain confidentiality of information.
- Maintain regular attendance and high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including nametags.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
