Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads and manages the activities, goals, and priorities of the manufacturing engineer team. The team maintains the production floor tooling, fixtures, processes, and documentation and drives efficiency and continuous improvements. The goal of the position is to organize the team's activities and priorities to achieve company goals and to position team members for success.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the manufacturing engineering team by prioritizing workloads, aligning goals through regular one-on-ones, overseeing team led projects and communicating with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Leverage process and product knowledge to evaluate, develop, and implement new and/or enhanced manufacturing processes, systems, and fixtures creating opportunities for automation and improved process controls.
  • Manage and develop the design process while mentoring the manufacturing engineering team in driving innovation within the manufacturing process.
  • Design and improve assembly line layout, cell design, parts presentation, both individually and with a team to eliminate waste in manufacturing.
  • Oversee the development and selection of assembly fixtures, jigs, and tools to properly hold, control and flow work to improve ergonomics, efficiency, motion, safety, and quality.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain cycle time charts for each operation to support assembly line balancing.
  • Collaborate in the development of standard work across the business and ensure accuracy.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Product Engineering team on implementation of design changes, new product launch, and bill of materials (BOM) changes to improve processes for better hand-off from Product Engineering to Production.
  • Create data analysis and report on metrics and project status to ensure strategic goals are achieved.
  • Review and approve documentation such as work instructions, quality alerts and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
  • Provide general support of the Production floor and deployment of resources to react quickly to help solve any issues, decrease discrepancies, improve productivity, and improve safety.
  • Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement Manager to identify the current state and plan and execute improvements towards the future state.
  • Ensure the team keeps the AutoCAD Facility files and Manufacturing Engineering Documentation up to date.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Education/Experience
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of manufacturing experience and 2 years in a supervisor/manager role.
  • Experience designing assembly layouts, part presentations, jigs and fixtures required.
  • Ability to create and present to multiple tiers of business levels.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, manufacturing equipment and manufacturing processes required.
  • Knowledge of frozen beverage equipment and basic understanding of general electro-mechanical and refrigeration products a plus.
  • Must have engineering, people management and manufacturing skills.
  • Prior experience navigating through ERP/ purchasing software a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills because of daily contact with internal employees.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and a reference check.
Physical Demands
  • Required to sit, type, have eye/hand/foot coordination, grasp, reach, occasionally stand and walk.
  • This position works in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Clarity of vision including the ability to appropriately differentiate colors.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
