Overview
Renesas is seeking a strategic and technically accomplished Director of Analog Design to lead global analog and mixed-signal IC development across our expanding portfolio in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications. This role is pivotal in shaping the analog design strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring operational excellence across multiple design centers.
As a senior leader, you will lead and develop your team, guide execution and contribute to company-wide engineering and organizational policies. You will be accountable for department-level budgets and responsible for building and mentoring cross-cultural teams.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Execution: Define and execute the analog design strategy aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives; translate business goals into operational plans and guide execution across global teams; drive innovation in analog design methodologies, IP development, and verification flows.
- Technical Excellence: Ensure delivery of high-quality analog IP and full-chip solutions from specification to production; oversee architecture, design, and verification of analog blocks including regulators, amplifiers, ADCs/DACs, PLLs, and power stages; champion design best practices, internal methodologies, and compliance with industry standards.
- Team & Organizational Development: Lead and mentor multiple teams of analog designers and technical managers across geographies; foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture that supports continuous learning and development; oversee recruitment, performance management, and succession planning for the analog design function.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with digital design, physical design, layout, product engineering, system engineering, test, validation and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability; represent the analog design function in customer engagements, cross-site initiatives, and corporate engineering forums; collaborate with senior leadership to align design strategies with broader business and technology goals.
- Operational & Financial Accountability: Manage department budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery; drive continuous improvement in design efficiency, quality, and innovation through effective change management.
Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PhD is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful tape-outs and product launches in Analog Design.
- Deep expertise in analog design fundamentals and power management circuits, including state of the art software engineering tools.
- Experience in automotive-grade IC development and IATF and/or ISO compliance is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing cross-cultural teams and working in a global matrix organization.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed.
