The Position

Our roster has an opening with your name on it. FanDuel is looking for a high-impact Director of Security Operations with deep technical fluency and the experience to lead our most operationally critical security teams. You'll oversee Security Operations Engineering and Detection Engineering, which together are responsible for threat detection, response, incident handling, vulnerability management, and offensive security capabilities. This is a highly visible leadership role at the intersection of technical security and business resilience. You'll partner closely with Product, Fraud, and Customer Operations to ensure that risk signals are translated into clear action—and that we detect, respond, and recover with precision. You'll also play a key role in helping define how FanDuel's security operations scale as we grow. In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company to meet evolving business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead high-performing teams across Security Operations Engineering and Detection Engineering.
  • Define and drive the strategy for security operations including incident response, detection, threat monitoring, and tooling.
  • Build and mature capabilities including vulnerability management, threat intel, and offensive testing.
  • Develop and mentor senior managers and ICs; establish clarity and accountability throughout the org.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Fraud, Product, and Customer Ops to align on shared threats and incident response.
  • Communicate operational risk and security posture to leadership with precision and clarity.
  • Continually evaluate and improve processes, coverage, and incident readiness across the stack.
  • Define and deliver OKRs that connect operational outcomes to business risk and provide clear visibility and accountability.
Qualifications
  • Experience building and scaling security operations functions in fast paced environments.
  • Proven track record of managing managers and driving execution across multiple technical domains.
  • Deep understanding of detection engineering, security automation, incident response, and metrics that matter.
  • Strong cross functional instincts; you know how to partner with engineering, product, fraud, and ops teams.
  • Executive communication skills; you translate signals into outcomes, not noise.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to build frameworks where none exist.
  • 8+ years in security, with 2-3+ years managing managers or leading multi functional teams.
  • Experience in high growth or startup environments strongly preferred.
  • Background in regulated industries such as fintech or gaming is a plus.
  • Prior leadership of response, detection, or platform level security teams.
