Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000 per year

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of field engineers and technicians within the designated office. This role serves as a technical liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of field personnel
  • Consult with clients to determine technical and scheduling requirements
  • Support Sales Managers during job walkdowns as the technical expert
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and manage hiring for assigned locations
  • Serve as secondary customer contact behind Sales Manager
  • Ensure adherence to testing and safety procedures
  • Deliver technical and safety training to office personnel
  • Review technical reports for accuracy across transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, surge arresters, cables, and DC systems
  • Supervise a team of 10 employees, including:
    • 1 Field Technician
    • 1 Senior Field Technician/Engineer
    • 1 Relay Engineer
    • 1 Senior Relay Engineer
    • 1 Field Technician I
    • 3 Field Technician II
    • 2 Field Technician III
  • Travel required: 35% throughout Missouri and surrounding states
Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Distribution, or Utility Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection (high and low voltage)

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Doble Power Factor, turns ratio, winding resistance, CT testing, breaker timing, contact resistance, primary/secondary injection
  • Experience with VLF, tan delta, partial discharge testing of cables and analysis
  • Familiarity with standards and documentation from:
    • International Electrical Testing Association (NETA)
    • IEEE
    • ANSI
    • ASTM
    • NFPA 70/70B/70E
  • Technical knowledge of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and DC systems
  • Budgeting and profit/loss management
