EHS Specialist required for leading Pharmaceutical Company

  • $75,000 - $84,000 per year

A leading pharmaceutical company is seeking an EHS Specialist to join their growing team.

The EHS Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Promote and implement HSE programs across laboratory and facility operations.
  • Act as the HSE subject matter expert for chemical, biological, radiological, and general safety in lab and office settings.
  • Design and deliver HSE training materials; oversee training assignments within the learning management system.
  • Develop, update, and maintain HSE procedures and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Perform risk assessments for equipment, operational procedures, and experimental processes.
  • Evaluate safety considerations for new drug product testing requests.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, FAA, PA DEP, and others.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal, coordinate emergency response efforts, and maintain relationships with environmental testing vendors.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Carry out additional HSE-related tasks as needed.

The ideal EHS Specialist candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related physical science discipline.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in HSE or a science-based role.
  • Familiarity with laboratory, research & development, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local HSE regulations.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Expertise in integrating safety practices into laboratory and technical operations.
  • Skilled trainer with excellent interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong planning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and related digital tools.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance.
  • Strong dedication to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Certifications such as Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are a plus.
