Monday to Thursday 3:00 pm to 1:30 am ($2 shift differential))
Job Description
- Inspect stacks of doors entering the work area via conveyor.
- Perform visual quality checks on entire stacks.
- Repair newly and previously identified doors with quality defects.
- Restack doors meeting quality specifications.
- Push pallets on conveyor.
- Place unrepeatable doors in cull door stack and document on reject sheets.
- Operate jump tracks, straighten doors, and push door stacks onto paint booth infeed tracks.
- Use glue gun, palm sander, sanding block, chisel, putty knives, clamps, and apply Bondo, hot melt glue, touch-up paint, and putty.
Knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret ticket instructions and specifications.
- Skilled at identifying and discerning product quality and defects.
- Knowledge of sanders, planers, hand tools (putty knife, sanding block, wood chisel).
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and assist with various stages of door production as needed.
Skills
- Proficient in using wood craftsmanship tools for door repairs.
- Maintains high-quality standards.
- Demonstrates some creativity in repairs.
Responsibilities
- Moderate level of responsibility to identify defects and perform repairs using provided tools.
- Make decisions on what can and cannot be repaired.
- Minimize Cost of Quality (COQ) impact while meeting customer quality expectations.
Physical Demands
- Manually lift, slide, and flip materials or doors up to 80 lbs.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and dexterity required.
- Standing for long continuous hours.
- Repair, buff, and finish doors as required.
Mental Demands
- Fast-paced job requiring continuous focus on defect detection.
- Constant visual quality inspection of doors.
Social Interaction
- Communicate effectively with upstream and downstream departments.
- Immediate communication of internal process defects for quick recovery and repair is expected.
Working Conditions
- Mildly controlled environment.
- Exposure to cold and heat during extreme weather conditions.
- High dust and noisy environment.
