Position Overview

We are looking on behalf of our client DIRECTO TELECOM for an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead their growing telco conversational AI operations in the US and to work closely with their team in Mexico. You understand selection and management of all third-party platforms, customer service delivery, internal software development, telecommunications carriers, design and operation of products – including AI, understanding of systems/BI and data science, cybersecurity and call center infrastructure. The CTO will play a critical leadership role in aligning technology with business goals, overseeing system architecture, managing IT and engineering teams, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and innovation of our telecom and software platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company's technology roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of telephone networks and call center technologies.
  • Oversee all software development efforts, from architecture to implementation, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Manage relationships with telecom carriers, hardware providers, and tech vendors.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical systems, including VoIP, routing, and CRM platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale cross-functional teams of engineers, developers, and IT professionals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on new product development, innovation, and market differentiation.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in telecommunications and software to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, data security, and technical standards are consistently met.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (15+ years) in a senior technology leadership role within the telecom or call center industry, software development, NOC manager, or Network Ops/infrastructure.
  • Strong technical background in:
    • Telephone networks (e.g., VoIP, SIP, PBX, PSTN)
    • Software architecture and full-stack development
    • Carrier relationships and infrastructure integration
    • Call center systems (e.g., ACD, IVR, CTI, CRM integrations)
  • Solid knowledge of networking, data security, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in or with multinational teams and a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Preferred

  • Conversational Spanish
  • Experience working in USA and Mexico or similar Latin American markets.
  • Background in startup or scale-up environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO, or local telecom regulations).
  • Available to travel to Mexico City frequently.
