Job Description :

A mission-driven nonprofit legal services organization is seeking a Chief of Staff to join its leadership team. This critical role provides strategic leadership and support to the CEO and management team, driving organizational development, team management, staffing, and cross-team collaboration to ensure the organization's long-term success and alignment with its mission.

Essential Job Duties

Organizational Development

  • Partner with the CEO to lead strategic planning and organizational initiatives
  • Oversee annual work planning and monitor progress towards goals
  • Plan and facilitate staff meetings and development activities
  • Evaluate and strengthen staffing models and organizational structures

Executive Support

  • Advise the CEO on organizational management and development needs
  • Collaborate with HR on senior leadership hiring and onboarding
  • Coordinate and facilitate key organizational meetings

Team Management

  • Supervise and support division chiefs and managing attorneys in leading their teams
  • Provide professional development, implement succession planning, and support conflict resolution
  • Foster team cohesion and accountability across practice areas

Cross-Team Collaboration & Alignment

  • Lead initiatives to improve communication, collaboration, and alignment around organizational values
  • Strengthen cohesion across divisions and ensure collective achievement of organizational goals

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision, and guidance to division chiefs and directors (approx. 12)
  • Support team development, organizational planning, and cross-functional success

Qualifications

Required

  • Member in good standing of The Florida Bar
  • 8-10+ years of progressive nonprofit leadership, management, or equivalent related experience
  • Demonstrated success in strategy, planning, staff development, and building cohesive teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and access to justice

Desired

  • Experience in legal, policy, or social justice nonprofits
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including communities of color and low-income populations
