Job Details- Travel RN position at Hillside Hospital, part of Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Pulaski, TN.
- Facility is a 95-bed, Joint Commission-accredited acute care facility providing inpatient and outpatient services.
- Position involves working in the Detox unit with a 13-bed floor and patient ratios of 1:7.
- Experience with CIWA/COWS preferred but no specialty needed.
- Patient population ranges from ages 18 to geriatric, occasionally 17-year-old patients.
- Common diagnoses include substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, ETOH, behavioral conditions, hypertension, syncope, seizures, liver disease, cognitive changes, and high fall risk.
- Treatments include valium tapers, subutex, vivitrol, banana bags, rescue medications, and routine/home meds.
- Personality fit includes willingness to learn, teamwork, respect for department expectations, calmness in chaotic situations, confidence in clinical judgment, and problem-solving attitude.
- Required education is ASN minimum with licensure/certification to work as an RN in Tennessee.
- Dress code allows any solid color scrubs; restrictions on outerwear, open-toed shoes, jewelry, and other items for safety.
Job Requirements- Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ALS, PALS (PALS to be handled with care after hire).
- Licensure/certification required to work as an RN in Tennessee.
- Preferred experience: 5+ years, minimum acceptable 3+ years.
- Must have skills: patient care of all ages, bedside shift report, IV access.
- Preferred skills: assist with bedside procedures such as PICC lines/midlines, CIWA/COWS.
- All clinical staff must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to assignment start date with results required before start.
Schedule Information- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours.
- Shift details not specified but orientation is weekly on Mondays.
- Weekend hours: every other weekend and as needed.
- No call required.
- May be required to float to other departments as needed but not standard.
Unit Specific Information- Unit: Detox floor with 13 beds.
- Patient ratios: 1 nurse to 7 patients.
- Equipment includes IV pumps, Zoll monitor, IV catheters.
- EHR system: HMS/Medhost.
- Supervisors: Director and CNC (names removed).
- Patient population: adults and geriatric, occasionally 17-year-olds.
- No specialty required but experience with CIWA/COWS preferred.
- Common diagnoses and treatments related to substance abuse and behavioral health.
- No call required; weekend coverage every other weekend and as needed.
Additional Details- Education expectations to be completed during contract.
- Required audits and processes including bedside shift report, briefs, debriefs, and unit checks must be followed.
