The Assistant Director position is part of the Undergraduate Admissions Office team, focused on helping the University meet its goals of enrolling a talented and diverse student body. This position is responsible for the recruitment, evaluation, selection, and yield ofapplicants, and will be regionally based in a metropolitan region in the Western region of the US (ideally Southern CA or Denver, CO). Duties include leading, managing, organizing, and staffing recruitment events and programs; providing counseling and service to students and families about the University and the college decision process; reviewing and evaluating applications to render admission decisions; and developing and maintaining relationships with school counselors and others. This position represents the University and office internally and externally and may have other duties as assigned. The Assistant Director position supports one or more project or program areas within the Admissions Office (as assigned). Strong professional judgment, initiative, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset are required.

Location/Working Conditions/Schedule:
The position will be based in a metropolitan region in the Western US (ideally Southern CA or Denver, CO). As conditions merit, this position will be required to travel to St. Louis (expectation is 3-5 trips to WashU per fiscal year). Travel and attendance at many events on and off campus is necessary. Travel may include overnight travel. Travel expectation is 6-10 weeks per year. Must transport recruitment materials to high school visits, college fairs, and other meetings. Work outside of normal business hours is necessary throughout the year.
Position requires heavy use of the computer including an electronic application reading system. The position will be provided university-owned equipment needed to perform the duties of the role. Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs.
