SUMMARY:
The Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and auditing of the HSE management system, plans and specific programs including ensuring compliance with a) all local, state and federal environmental requirements and b) Hutchinson and Total guidelines and requirements.
The HSE Manager will also be responsible for day-to-day HSE support, advice, training, inspections/audits, reporting functions and systems maintenance.
Tasks relating to the role will be undertaken through active involvement with management and the workforce to ensure the highest levels of communication, support and advice are provided.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May directly or indirectly (though a local site salaried representative) supervise non-exempt Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Safety Technicians and/or ISO14001 Technician. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include safety, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree (B. S.) from a college or university in environmental engineering, safety engineering or related science field plus 3 to 7 years experience. Prior experience in molded and extruded rubber products in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, scientific and/or technical journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and government agencies.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis for variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use word processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheet applications. Must be familiar with internet research and the use of e-mail. .
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
ISO14001 Auditor, Hazardous waste training certificate, and/or Opacity certification is desired.
