JOB SUMMARY
The Permit Technician is responsible for processing and issuing various City related permits in compliance with local regulations and building codes. This role involves working closely with contractors and property owners to ensure all required documentation is accurate and complete. The technician will also provide information on permitting processes, assist with permit applications, and maintain detailed records. Additionally, the position requires coordination with various departments to ensure timely approvals and inspections for construction and renovation projects. Strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and a solid understanding of building codes and permitting software are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, along with two years of experience in a building or planning department, including six months of experience in processing computerized building permit applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
ICC Permit Technician certification is required or must be obtained within one year of employment. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is primarily sedentary, with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and/or frequent or constant negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are necessary: fingering, lifting, and speaking.
