The Continuous Improvement Specialist identifies and implements changes at Century Aluminum Sebree to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance, utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work with Operations, HSE, Sales and HR to develop and improve the Lean and Six Sigma systems at Sebree as well as oversee the portfolio of improvement work that is designed to achieve the strategic and operational agenda of the site.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy manufacturing. Must be well organized and able to work well within a team environment. The incumbent must have the ability to build and sustain good working relationships and work effectively in a team environment; be achievement motivated and have a high energy level; effective planning and organizational skills; and effective communication skills (verbal, written, and listening). Roles and Responsibilities:
- Learn, accept and live Century Aluminum's Safety Mission Statement
- Act as the funnel and integrator of the various business improvement initiatives/strategies (Lean, Six Sigma, IPT, synergies…)
- Evaluate current processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement using tools like process mapping and data analysis.
- Develop and implement improvement strategies and initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Lead cross functional improvement projects, ensuring timely completion and expected results
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on continuous improvement concepts, tools, and techniques.
- Collect and analyze data to measure performance metrics, identify trends, and report on the results of improvement initiatives to leadership.
- Act as a change agent, challenging the status quo and fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Work closely with various departments and stakeholders across all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinate strategic and detailed plans. Help select participants for Business Improvement projects, and provide coordination across the projects.
- Manage and coordinate site lean resources, including consultants.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and facilitate best practice sharing regarding lean methods
