Head of Applied AI & ML

A high-growth AI/ML company in the life sciences space is looking for a Head of ML & AI to lead its Applied AI organization. This group builds reusable AI models that are deployed across multiple pharmaceutical R&D environments, enabling high-impact scientific applications at scale.

They already working with a lot of the largest pharma businesses in the world. Closed a 70M round recently. You will get equity.

This is a client-facing leadership role that combines hands-on ML / GenAI development with product strategy and technical delivery. You'll manage a distributed team of applied AI engineers and work directly with scientific stakeholders to solve real-world use cases across Reinforcement Learning, LLM/NLP, and Protein Modeling.

Location

Remote-first with travel as needed. Strong preference for candidates in Boston (or NYC/Chicago/SF) for on-site collaboration with key customers.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and grow the team while maintaining a fast-paced, startup culture
• Interface with scientific and executive stakeholders to translate R&D challenges into scalable ML solutions
• Represent the company's AI capabilities in customer and industry forums

Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience building and deploying ML/AI models in production
• Expertise in at least two of these: Reinforcement Learning, LLMs, Computational Biology
• Must have Ability to interpret and model biological/scientific data
• Strong stakeholder-facing communication skills
• Ideally a PhD or masters and 10+ years of business experience
