HR PERFORMANCE & EMPLOYEE RELATIONS SPECIALIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

The HR Performance & Employee Relations role is responsible for driving consistent performance management practices across the organization, including documentation of disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and terminations. This position partners closely with the Unemployment and Training teams to ensure compliance, reduce liability, and strengthen employee development.

Depending on experience, the role may function at a specialist level (supporting documentation and assisting managers) or at a manager level (leading the employee relations function, providing strategic guidance, and coaching leaders).

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Manage performance management processes including coaching, discipline, PIPs, and terminations
  • Ensure documentation meets compliance standards and supports unemployment claim defense
  • Partner with unemployment team to provide timely, complete, and accurate documentation
  • Work closely with training to identify performance trends and recommend corrective programs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain workflows, templates, and documentation standards
  • Guide managers and supervisors in handling employee relations issues
  • Track and analyze employee relations metrics and present proactive solutions
  • Manager level scope (if applicable):
  • Lead or advise on complex ER investigations
  • Coach/influence leaders at all levels
  • Mentor HR team members to ensure consistency in documentation and process
  • Present ER findings and recommendations to leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field (master's preferred for manager level)
  • Specialist: 2+ years HR/employee relations experience with strong documentation/compliance skills
  • Manager: 5+ years HR/employee relations experience, including complex case handling and leadership coaching
  • Knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and unemployment processes
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality
  • Bilingual a plus
