Summary
Maintains and enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices - including Strategic HR Leadership, Compliance & Risk Management, Recruitment & Talent Development, Compensation & Benefits Administration, and Performance Management & Employee Relations.
Payroll is NOT a part of the responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the HR department. Develops department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Ensures the organization's objectives and values are upheld within a healthy work environment for employees.
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal, state, and local labor requirements, preserving records, updating company policies, and running trainings.
- Receives employee complaints, conducts investigations, and provides recommendations for additional training or disciplinary action.
- Conducts recruitment efforts for all personnel, including job posting, resume review, interviews, offer letters, and recommendations to hiring managers.
- Establishes and runs new-employee orientation and trainings.
- Contributes to retention strategy and succession planning through collaboration with senior leadership and direct supervisors.
- Administers employee benefits programs, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids, awarding benefit contracts, and designing and conducting educational programs.
- Manages the worker's compensation program for the company, including claim reporting, follow up, and collaboration with adjusters, injured workers, and insurance representatives.
- Handles complex employee relations issues, counsels employees and supervisors, and performs exit interviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of human resources experience, ideally in the construction industry
- Will consider Sr. Generalist looking for first HR Manager position
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- SHRM/HRCI certification a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HRIS systems,
- Up-to-date knowledge of Federal, State, and Local labor laws
- Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and strong organizational skills
- Ensure and maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Spanish proficiency is a plus
