Overview

DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS

We are expanding into the DC Metropolitan market and are seeking a dynamic and dedicated leader to join our team. This role will be essential to our growth and long-term success in this new region.

This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in our expansion, lead with purpose, and make a meaningful impact on both our brand and the community we serve.

Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Providing overall leadership, strategy, goal setting, and direction for the DMV market operations in support of overall company and market objectives, leading from the front
  • Delivering proof of Pura Vida's value proposition in a high-potential new market while maintaining, championing, and advancing Pura Vida's unique brand, vision, and offerings
  • Owning the region's P&L, including forecasting targets, creating the annual budget and CAPEX plans, tracking performance, driving innovative initiatives to maximize profitability, growing topline revenue, and proactively managing COGS
  • Ensuring efficient, high-quality, and consistent in-store execution and continually identifying and implementing strategies to improve operational excellence, rolling up sleeves with the team
  • Developing and implementing regular ongoing systems to maintain and maximize the lifespan, safety, appearance, and performance of all elements of facilities, managing a cadence of preventative and remedial measures and capitalizing on the full utility of ResQ
  • Building and developing strong relationships with cross functional teams in order to communicate local needs and drive change, leveraging the centralized Miami hub for maximum local impact
  • Creating and implementing standard operating procedures as necessary, such as for new store openings, day-to-day operations, labor scheduling, vendor management, ongoing performance evaluation, supply chain structure, cost control measures, and divisions of labor functions
  • Delivering revenue goals through sales-building initiatives around brand awareness, guest engagement and retention, community relations, local marketing/promotions, brand activations, catering and delivery, and other revenue opportunities working in tandem with the Brand/Marketing and Operations departments.
  • Maintaining effective staffing levels through establishing strategic plans for recruitment, training, retention, career development, diversity, and the identification of high potential talent that supports the company's future growth and expansion
  • Creating an environment that provides direction and promotes continuous learning and development, with the ability to nurture and retain valued team members
  • Driving outcomes for new store development in tandem with Construction, Real Estate, and Legal teams in such activities as trade area research and analysis, site selection, proforma creation, lease negotiation, partnership agreements, restaurant design, permitting, contractor selection, construction management, and new store openings procedures
  • Developing and cultivating strong local relationships with landlords, vendors, brokers, architects, contractors, asset managers, and other external stakeholders
  • Providing ongoing, detailed, and strategically substantive communication to executive leadership and store teams
  • Anticipate industry trends and continually evaluating the company's strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats to help improve overall company performance.
  • Championing commitment and consistent application of Pura Vida's mission, values, and operating principles, ensuring its culture and reputation is actively cultivated across the organization

Requirements

  • A successful history of exemplary multi-unit general management within a well- respected restaurant brand, culminating in a senior role
  • A genuine passion for the Pura Vida brand, cuisine, and future goals
  • Experience executing with limited resources and a small team, as well as building trust through managing up; previous experience within a founder-led, emerging brand is a plus
  • Track record of leading new unit growth with successful site selection, market penetration, and construction oversight
  • The desire and flexibility to assume the roles of an individual contributor, team player, and leader, simultaneously; brings superior confidence, energy, and motivation; is eager to work shoulder-to-shoulder with teams, displaying and modeling humility, poise, and aptitude
  • Outstanding, time-proven industry expertise and infectious passion for restaurants; can perform and guide others in all areas of daily operations, culinary, facilities, and guest service
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain best-in-class operating procedures and the agility to pivot as needed based on business needs and individual markets

  • The ability to reside in or around the DC Metropolitan Area with the understanding that this is a field- based position with travel
