Job Title: Painter

The State of Colorado is seeking a skilled painter for the Division of Facilities Management - Northern Division. The position is open only to Colorado state residents and involves a variety of painting and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include:

Painting:

  • Paint walls, equipment, buildings, casework, and other structural surfaces.
  • Prepare surfaces by removing old paint, filling cracks, and applying primers.
  • Calculate materials needed and estimate costs.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as wall repair, flooring repairs, and painting.
  • Hang, tape, texture, and plaster drywall.
  • Perform snow removal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, in-person, essential position. Shift work may be required. Must be available for and respond to call backs to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have four years of professional commercial and/or residential painting experience.
  • Education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program that relates to this position will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial painting experience.
  • Five plus years of commercial painting experience.
  • Experience operating scissor lifts and boom lifts.
  • Experience with road markings and/or striping.
  • Experience working with and maintaining airless paint sprayer.

Conditions of Employment:

  • A full pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, non-restricted Colorado driver's license.
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for a religious exemption.
  • Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must be available for call back and shift work.
  • Use, handling, or exposure to hazardous materials.

Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose that information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position.
